The Role of Fivefold Ministry (Part 2)

The Role of Fivefold Ministry (Part 2)

Fivefold Ministry is a matter frequently alluded to from the pulpit within many Charismatic and other Neo-Pentecostal churches and circles. Notwithstanding, such allusions appear to be little more than oratorical rhetoric, for the most part, because few churches make an earnest attempt to incorporate Fivefold Ministry within their ministry and structure. Certainly, I have never yet seen it in full and proper operation anywhere. Rather, for the most part according to what I have heard and witnessed, Fivefold Ministry and its function remains to be a shadowy and little understood matter to the majority of ministers, not to mention lay believers, including even those claiming to be Charismatic. Oh, some say they believe there is such a thing as Fivefold Ministry, which is more than can be said for the vast majority of so called mainline and Evangelical denominational ministers. …Read Article

The Hidden Cause Behind America’s Economic Collapse

The Hidden Cause Behind America’s Economic Collapse

Note from the Editor/Publisher:Yesterday was “Mother’s Day” in America, the day we’ve designated to give tribute to and honor the hundreds of millions of mothers in our nation, for all they have done and do in the vital role as mothers to and for us all. Everyone has a natural mother, though, sadly, some individuals, through various circumstances, were deprived of a relationship with their mother, or even knowing who their mother is or was. Nevertheless, a person cannot be born into this world without a mother. We all were conceived in the womb of a mother. Mothers are vital to our lives, in innumerable ways, and we are all born with a God-placed love in our hearts for our mothers—that’s why we’ve set this one day aside in our nation to honor and express to them in various ways how …Read Article

The Role of Fivefold Ministry

The Role of Fivefold Ministry

Fivefold Ministry is the ongoing surrogate ministry of Christ Himself to the Church—His Betrothed. All legitimate ministry emanates from Jesus Himself and is an extension of His ministry. Unless it emulates His ministry, it’s not legitimate ministry. Jesus’ three-and-a-half-year fleshly ministry is the model for all genuine ministry, and we can see in the Gospel accounts that Jesus functioned in all five of the Fivefold Ministry Offices. Fivefold Ministry consists of five functions or offices of function: apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, and teacher. The primary scripture enumerating these offices is verse eleven of Ephesians Four. Relationally these offices are horizontal, non-hierarchical, and non-authoritarian (cf., Mk. 10:35-45; 16:19; Lk. 22:69; Ac. 5:31; 7:55,56; Rom. 8:34; Eph. 1:20; Col. 3:1; Heb. 1:3,13; 8:1; 10:12; 12:2; 1 Pet. 3:22; Rom. 8:29; Heb. 12:23). These terms are not titles implying authority or entitlement of …Read Article

Twelve Common Mistakes Young Pastors/Leaders Make

Twelve Common Mistakes Young Pastors/Leaders Make

Having started in full-time ministry at the age of 22 and pioneering a local congregation at the age of 25, much of this article comes from the “school of hard knocks.” Either I have made each of the following mistakes or I have observed them made by other pastors in my 30+ years of full-time ministry. My definition of “young” for this article is somewhere between the ages of 20-40. But, of course, this varies with each person’s degree of maturity or immaturity. There may even be many leaders between the ages of 50-80 who exhibit some of these same qualities! This is not meant to categorize every young person; it is meant to illustrate some of the most common mistakes. But not every young person makes each of these mistakes. Following are some of the most common mistakes. Thanks …Read Article

Do My Prophets No Harm!

Do My Prophets No Harm!

“Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm” (1Ch 16:22; Ps. 105:15). Though this Divine command is too often abused and misused, God said it twice in His Word, which is special emphasis indicating He certainly meant it! Though, of course, God always says what He means and means what He says! Thus, I would say it would be a good idea for anyone to give heed to that warning. Anytime you think God is leading you to engage in an ad hominem attack of words and/or actions or some sort of an insurrection against a genuinely anointed and appointed man of God, another good idea is to remember the fate of the company of “Korah & Sons,” who participated in a personal attack and insurrection against the man God had chosen and anointed to deliver …Read Article

Is There A “Gay Gene”?

Is There A “Gay Gene”?

By John Stallings I read an article recently about Pastor Jim Swilley, the pastor of a Georgia “mega church,” announcing that he is gay. Pastor Swilley stated, “I know a lot of straight people think it is a choice. It is not.” He went on to say that he has known of his homosexuality since he was a boy. Is it true that homosexuals have no choice in the matter? Are people born gay? More importantly, is this really the question we should be asking? We’ll get back to that. Ancient Warfare’s Message to the Modern Church (Part 2)

Ancient Warfare’s Message to the Modern Church (Part 2)

By Charles Carrin In the first part of this article series, I explained how the battering-ram the Roman Army brought against the walls of Jerusalem was a prototype of the spiritual weapons we have been provided for Christian battle. I continue on that theme in this article with some particular application. Make no mistake about it, we are at war! At this time in our nation, several states are preparing for discussions with proponents of “Sharia Law.” As I write, Christian churches in Iraq and other Islamic nations are being bombed and their congregations murdered. Not all of this is reported by America’s media; a black-out order exists. Efforts are being made to convince the American public that Islam is a peace-loving and kind religion. History, however, emphatically denies that. In spite of the propaganda put forth by its proponents and participants, …Read Article

Ancient Warfare’s Message To The Modern Church (Part 1)

Ancient Warfare’s Message To The Modern Church (Part 1)

In the Old Testament, Joshua brought Jericho to crashing defeat as the Israelites simply obeyed the Lord’s instruction to march around its seemingly inpenetrable walls encompassing the city in total silence for seven days. The walls did not fall until the seventh day. What was successfully begun on the first day was not accomplished until the last. So it is with believers today. “We reap in due season if we faint not.” When Israel placed God’s battering-ram, i.e., the power of the Holy Spirit, against the walls of Jericho, the city was compelled to fall, even though that did not occur until the end of a week. But ultimately, the wall had no other choice. It had to fall, when they simply obeyed the Lord’s instruction, which was relayed to them by their God-anointed and appointed human leader. The principle is still true today.

Why Hurt People Hurt People

Why Hurt People Hurt People

An entire discipline related to trauma-related disorders and syndromes now exists in the mental health realm. Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) is perhaps the most known among non-professionals. The ramifications and tenacles of trauma, mental health scientists and professionals are continuously learning, is extremely far-reaching in the psychological make-up of individuals who have suffered it. Moreover, the numbers and demographics of those suffering from various forms and degrees of trauma-related mental health problems are staggering and astounding. The number one result of trauma to the human psyche, simply stated, is an inner “hurt” or “pain.” And the most common result of that hurt or pain is that “hurt people hurt people.” While mental health practitioners are worthy of great respect and recognition for their labor to recognize and attempts to help people suffering from trauma-related maladies, those of us who serve the Champion of our Salvation, the Great Deliverer, the Lord Jesus Christ, know that the only real “CURE” comes from the Lord! “Whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord, SHALL BE DELIVERED!” the Word of God states categorically! This article Joseph Mattera delineates some very insightful common traits of those operating out of hurt and pain.

The Generation That Shall Not Pass Away!

The Generation That Shall Not Pass Away!

Of the exact 24-hour “day” of His return, Jesus explicitly stated, “But of that day NO ONE KNOWS, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone (by the way, another of a plethora of problematic passages and concepts for “Oneness” proponents to explain; I guess somehow the Modality or Manifestation aspect of the Godhead that is the Son has unexplainable amnesia or cognitive blockage regarding this one aspect of Divine Omniscience). So we cannot know the exact 24-hour earthly “day” He will return, but, nevertheless Jesus told us that when we see the eschatological (end-times) things come to pass He was prophesying about in his dissertation to the disciples, we can recognize that the time of His return is imminent.

God’s Perestroika!

God’s Perestroika!

The centerpiece of this post is a prophetic message I delivered in December, 1989. The date of the delivery of the message is significant because the message predicted major governmental debacle and dismantling that would be occurring in many nations of the world, beginning with the U.S.S.R., and it was in November, 1989, that East Germany issued a decree for the Berlin Wall dividing free Berlin from Communist Berlin that had stood for 28 years to be opened to allow free ingress and egress between the East and West factions of the city. By the end of 1990 the wall was completely disassembled contemporaneously with the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe and in U.S.S.R., marking the end of the Cold War era. The historic opening of the Berlin Wall came only a little more than two years after President Ronald Reagan, who I believe was a political prophet anointed and appointed by God, “In a speech at the Brandenburg Gate commemorating the 750th anniversary of Berlin, by the Berlin Wall on June 12, 1987,” trumpeted the now infamous divinely-inspired prophetic decree, “Mr. Gorbachev, Tear down this wall!”

Demigod Leaders

Demigod Leaders

WARNING! God’s putting His prophetic finger on a major problem plaguing the Church Jesus is building! Celebrity cult-status leaders — who act like spiritual divas and present themselves as demigods, based in arrogance, ascendancy, supremacy, and narcissism that has convinced them they are better and above everyone else — are on the rise in the American Church. You’ve seen them…they’re so important that, like “gangsta” subculture “homies” or mob mafiosos, they must be accompanied by an entourage of sycophants and bodyguards wherever they go to enforce their inaccessibility—even to peers, staff, and collegues—and to reinforce their self-proclaimed status and public image. Unaccountable islands to themselves who can’t be bothered with the mere plebian masses. “Wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever,” Jude called their ilk.

Egotism and Narcissism in Ministry

Egotism and Narcissism in Ministry

[Editor’s note:]Over time in the ministry you have opportunities to meet and know people in various forms of ministry and ancillary fields of endeavor such as Christian entertainment of various levels of notoriety. My beginnings in the ministry afforded me perhaps more opportunities than most in that regard. One of the observations I was forced to make early on in my experience as a Born Again Christian is that no matter how spiritual and humble those of this ilk I met or became acquainted with were, they all had an ego, some larger than others, but they all had an ego. In the first couple of years of my Christian walk (though I now know how silly that was), I was troubled about that, to the point of being somewhat disillusioned and distracted, especially in the case of those who …Read Article

Disarmament or Discernment?

Disarmament or Discernment?

By Dr. Steven Lambert Cajoling the foe to disarm, thereby rendering him defenseless against his diabolic deceptions and dastardly designs of captivation, has been the ploy of the enemy for time immemorial, whether in the sociological systems of the world or the polity of the Church. Relative to the latter, Satan’s obsession is to disarm believers of the “weapons of our warfare” we’ve been issued by God. With the former, the doctrines of Marxism are replete with demonically-inspired dogmas and idioms aimed at pacification of the masses to pave the way for totalitarian hegemony of submissive peoples achieved solely through ideological indoctrination and the total avoidance of militaristic resistance. Use sophisticated mind control tactics to disorient and disable your target is the underlying methodology of fascist guerrilla warfare. It’s a mind game, and no one is more skilled at conjuring …Read Article

Paying The Price

Paying The Price

These people indeed are only temporary believers. They are willing to respond affirmatively to the Gospel in order to be saved and to escape Hell. But, they are not willing to effect a complete surrender and repentance. Nor are they willing to die totally to self and sin, and relinquish lordship over their own lives. Some are willing to effect a superficial repentance of surface sins, but not a complete repentance of the evil motivations which pervade the unredeemed soul. Much less are they willing to offensively resist the enemy on the battlefield of temptation, affliction, and persecution, in order to follow after Jesus.

Fast From Judging

Fast From Judging

Are you pondering why your version of Christianity doesn’t quite feel like the abundant life Jesus promised? (See John 10.) Perhaps it is because you are too judgmental. The good news, however, is this: mercy triumphs over judgment. If you know you are a sinner and that there are areas wrong in you life, yet you strive to be merciful, God promises He will respond to you as you have responded to others. The areas in your heart that need mercy will find healing in the life God grants to the merciful.

Prophets–God’s Change Agents

Prophets–God’s Change Agents

One of the tribes of Israel, the sons of Issachar, were “men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do” (1 Chrn. 12:32). Prophets are spiritual “sons of Issachar.” The spiritual inheritance of that tribe is alive within them. They have a special anointing for discerning the times and knowing when God is bringing forth new things, new paradigms, and bringing the Church into new dimensions of the Spirit.

Demonized People Need More Than “Religious Bandages”

Demonized People Need More Than “Religious Bandages”

This is the third part in a series on the subject of deliverance written by my good friend, Charles Carrin. As best as I can recall, I believe it was in the mid-90s when I first had the great honor and privilege of meeting Charles Carrin. The first night I met him at the church he was pastoring at the time, he graciously invited me and my wife to join he and his wife for dinner following the service. I immediately recognized the special anointing upon his life and that God had “set me up” for one of those divine connections. Over the past few years, I felt led to reach out to renew fellowship with Charles. Each time I’ve called, he graciously invited me to join him and his precious wife, Laurie, for lunch at one of the South …Read Article

Beware of the Angry Watchmen

Beware of the Angry Watchmen

There is a false revival on the rise. It is the rise of the angry watchman who will cast stones at those who have gone astray from the Lord. This false revival consists of ministers who have led people away from the truth through legalism and a misguided prosperity gospel. They will forbid and command prodigals not to come into the presence of God until you work your way back into His favor through human effort and religion. We must not remove the veil from the bride of Christ. We have a righteousness that cannot be taken away from us because Jesus is our veil.

Deliverance Ministry May Be Your Answer

Deliverance Ministry May Be Your Answer

By Charles Carrin [Mar 18, 2010] I spoke at a Conference in Tennessee recently and afterward, [didacted; Ed.], a brother long-acknowledged for his prophetic gift, asked that I minister deliverance to those in the congregation suffering from depression. When I gave the opportunity more than 100 people came forward. The Holy Spirit moved in power and some of the same demonic manifestations recorded in the New Testament took place. This large number who experienced new freedom in Christ re-enforced a fact I have strongly suspected: Many Christians suffer from long-term crises which pass unhindered from one generation to the next. These include such problems as depression, disease, explosive anger, alcoholism, lying, domination, manipulation, and numerous other destructive habits. Few realize these are not unavoidable ancestral “traits” or that they can be stopped. Since demons and curses are spiritual in nature …Read Article
