Should Christians Be Involved In Politics?

Should Christians Be Involved In Politics?

By Joseph Mattera View #1: The church should not be involved in politics but only concentrate on soul-winning; the rest will take care of itself. This has been promulgated in the Evangelical Church the past 125 years, especially in Pentecostal/Charismatic circles since its inception in the early 1900’s. View #2: The church should demonstrate its spirituality primarily by getting involved through social and political action. With this view, the inner spiritual life and the supernatural are deemphasized. Many mainline liberal denominations represented by the World Council of Churches have taken this position. View #3: The classical reformed view (my view) is that God has allotted various jurisdictions of society, with the church and Bible at the center of culture and creation as “salt and light.” Some collapse these jurisdictions (or governments) to five: self-government, family, business, civic (political), and ecclesiastical …Read Article

GOP RESPONSE TO OBAMA SOTU ADDRESS

GOP RESPONSE TO OBAMA SOTU ADDRESS

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels delivers the Republican Party’s response to President Obama’s 2012 State of the Union address, delivered last night, Tuesday, January 25, 2012. Daniels: Greetings from the home of Super Bowl XLVI. The status of loyal opposition imposes on those out of power some serious responsibilities: to show respect for the presidency and its occupant, to express agreement where it exists. Republicans tonight salute our president, for instance, for his aggressive pursuit of the murderers of 9/11 and for bravely backing long overdue changes in public education. I personally would add to that list admiration for the strong family commitment that he and the first lady have displayed to a nation sorely needing such examples. On these evenings, presidents naturally seek to find the sunny side of our national condition. But when President Obama claims that the state …Read Article

Today’s Sleeping Giant

Today’s Sleeping Giant

Solemnly and slowly, with his index finger extended, Napoleon Bonaparte outlined a great stretch of country on a map of the world. “There,” he growled, “is a sleeping giant. Let him sleep! If he wakes, he will shake the world.” That sleeping giant was China. Today, Bonaparte’s prophecy of some one hundred and fifty years ago makes sense. Today Lucifer is probably surveying the church just as Bonaparte did China. One can almost behold the fear in his eyes as he thinks of the Church’s unmeasured potential and growls, “Let the Church sleep! If she wakes, she will shake the world.” Is not the Church the sleeping giant of today? Thanks for reading this article! So You Think Psychic Power Is Fun and Games?

So You Think Psychic Power Is Fun and Games?

By Charles Carrin “For unclean spirits crying with a loud voice came out of many who were possessed and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city. But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished (bewitched) the people of Samaria…” (Acts 8:7-9). Years ago, I received an urgent call from a young Church of Christ pastor in Tennessee who wanted time with me. He was in great distress. We met at the Nashville airport and went to his home where he shared his crisis: “The only power in my ministry was argument and debate,” he explained, “There was no manifestation of God’s presence like the early church experienced. I became so despaired with my spiritual deadness that I turned to other sources. And …Read Article

The Holy of Holies

The Holy of Holies

A prophet “blows the whistle” on the things that are unreal, feigned, false, synthetic, compromised, the things that constitute a lie, and if people continue in their deception, it will constitute death for them. It is not death as biological termination but death even while they live. The prophet is totally committed to life. He has an uncanny ability to discern those elements of death that have become so normative in the lives of people. Jesus said: “I have come to bring you life, and that more abundantly.” We need to contend for life and oppose every kind of artificial, stultifying, pharmaceutical thing that even children are now taking to quiet their “disorders”. The prophet will cry out, he will intervene and intercede for the fullness of life. Any falling short of the full-orbed life that God has intended for …Read Article

A Message to Oprah Winfrey from Jesus of Nazareth

A Message to Oprah Winfrey from Jesus of Nazareth

By John Stallings Dear Oprah, It would be redundant to say I know everything about you, as I do everyone else who has ever lived on planet earth. I know that you were born in 1954 to Vernon Winfrey and Vernita Lee in Kosciusko, Mississippi to humble and inauspicious beginnings. You were named after Orpah who is named in the Old Testament Book of Ruth as being the wife of one of Naomi’s two sons, but the midwife misspelled your name when she was filling out the record of birth form. [Oh, and by the way, I’ve never been surprised that your first name spelled backwards is Harpo, a name you’ve used for your umbrella organization.] You’ve done pretty well in the money department, amassing a reported $1.5-Billion net worth. Money isn’t the only measure of success, it’s not even …Read Article

Judging Rightly!

Judging Rightly!

Is It Right to Judge? By James L. Melton How many times have you heard someone whine, “Judge not, that ye be not judged?” This verse of Scripture from Matthew 7:1 is often quoted out of context by people who are terrified at the idea of someone preaching against sin or pointing out any form of error in anyone, especially in themselves. As I stood in a voting line one day I overheard a woman justifying her foolish choice for president by saying, “Well, we aren’t supposed to judge.” Imagine that! Choosing NOT to judge a political candidate on election day! No wonder our nation is in such a mess! As for Matthew 7:1, the context (verses 1-5) allows judging after you have first judged YOURSELF. Jesus did not make a blanket statement against judgment. He simply pointed out a …Read Article

God and Country –The Truth Christians Need To Know!

God and Country –The Truth Christians Need To Know!

A tsunami of humanism-based revisionism that pervaded America in the previous century through the national education system has had an undeniable impact upon the average American’s views of our national heritage. American’s have been lied to! The ultimate intent of all the lies proliferated by atheistic humanists is to convince Christians to shut up and sit down! Genuine Born Again believers must “KNOW the Truth” in this regard, and the Truth will set them free, and hopefully make them righteously indignant enough to DEFY the demands of the atheistic humanists, and instead STAND UP and SPEAK OUT about the inextricable place of the God of the Bible in the very foundations, fabric, and functions of America! The Ego-maniacal Prophet — Joseph Smith

The Ego-maniacal Prophet — Joseph Smith

The Mormon Church is the largest Christian cult in the world today, claiming a membership in excess of 10 million. It is a cult for many reasons, the most important being the fact that it proclaims a false Messiah. The Jesus of the Mormons is the brother of Lucifer, one of thousands of gods created by the super-god, Adam, an exalted man. The Mormon’s perverted concept of Jesus is just one of many demonic doctrines which the church inherited from its founder, Joseph Smith.

The Tangled Web of Mormonism

The Tangled Web of Mormonism

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, known as the Mormon church, is a well organized, highly-controlling, aggressive religious movement that is out to convince the world that they have a corner on “the truth” about God. They use door-to-door missionaries, friendship evangelism, and slick TV advertising to promote their world view, as well as the Book of Mormon as “another testament of Jesus Christ.”

Does Joel Osteen Not Know, or Does He Not Care?

Here we go again. Joel Osteen is in the news once again, this time for saying that Mormonism is just another form of Christianity. Osteen, pastor of “America’s largest church,” as the media repeats over and over, was speaking to The Washington Times in an interview that covered a variety of issues. It was the quintessential Joel on display.

Are Mormons Christian?

Are Mormons Christian?

“A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg — or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us.” —C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity C.S. Lewis’s famous “trilemma” confronts those who affirm the moral teachings of Christianity while distancing themselves from Christ’s more …Read Article

Why Do the Members of the Secular Media Hate Bible-believing Christians?

Why Do the Members of the Secular Media Hate Bible-believing Christians?

Why Do the Members of the Secular Media Hate Bible-believing Christians? By Dr. Michael Youseff The clearest answer comes from a statement reputedly made by President Harry Truman during his 1948 Presidential election campaign. One of his supporters yelled out to him, “Give ‘em Hell, Harry!” Truman responded, “I don’t give them Hell. I just tell the truth about them and they think it’s Hell.” That is precisely the reason why there is a war on Christians waged by members of the secular media. Christians speak the truth about God’s best for humanity as it applies to morality, laws and governing principles, but the secular media views these truths as Hell.  Truth always feels like Hell to those who reject, deny, or hate the truth. Happy Halloween?

Happy Halloween?

On 31 October, spooky beings and superheroes, cartoon characters and rubberized celebrities will line the streets and mall hallways of America anticipating sugary rewards. Compelled by shouts of “TRICK OR TREAT,” children of all ages will tote receptacles of various size and weight harboring the result of the nights hunt. It’s called Halloween, and while for most it is a harmless annual activity, its roots run deep in ancient paganism. ALL HALLOWS’ EVE, or Halloween, originated in the 7th century AD. It was celebrated on 13 May and was a night for remembering deceased saints and martyrs. The date was later changed to November 1 in order to Christianize the pagan holidays Beltane and Samhain—festivals of summer, winter and fire. James Frazer, in The Golden Bough, said, “throughout Europe, Hallowe’en, the night which marks the transition from autumn to winter, seems to …Read Article

The Veil of Self

The Veil of Self

Unless the cross works in the painful death that it inflicts, how is it the cross? Have we not substituted some pseudo equivalent that does not require death? The true cross is deadly; it is painful, but it alone can bring to death that veil and part it that we might enter boldly into the new and living way made available once and for all through His blood. It is not fun to die. To rip through the dear and tender stuff of which life is made can never be anything but deeply painful. If you presume to have come to the cross and have experienced no pain, you have not come. If that is what the cross did to Jesus, then that is what the cross will do to every man to set him free.

The Preciousness of the Gifts of the Spirit

The Preciousness of the Gifts of the Spirit

The Gifts of the Spirit, aka, the charismata, or “the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good,” are much more precious to God than humans have ever understood. The following artcle by Charles Carrin shows just how precious. The Preciousness of the Gifts of the Spirit By Charles Carrin Years ago on a flight out of West Palm Beach, Florida, we had just become airborne over the ocean when a boy sitting next to the window grabbed my arm. “Look out there!,” he spoke, “Look!” What I saw was one of the most magnificent sights of my life. Reaching down to the surface of the ocean and rising overhead as far as I could see was the full, unbroken circle of a rainbow. The color was indescribably brilliant with the lower part of the ring seeming to float on …Read Article

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit

There are few things more controversial in the body of Christ than the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the accompanying gifts. Much of modern-day Christianity sees the born-again experience as all there is to salvation. Many Christians oppose the belief that there is a separate experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit, and they especially oppose the validity of the gifts of the Holy Spirit for today’s believers. That type of belief puts them in conflict with the book of Acts and the very teaching of Jesus. Those who experience the power of the Holy Spirit today are labeled as fanatics or heretics. But what does the Bible have to say? What did Jesus say about this? Thanks for reading this article! How To: Flow In The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit

How To: Flow In The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit

I believe that one of the biggest reasons that the body of Christ hasn’t made a greater impact on our generation today is because of our failure to operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Without a doubt, Jesus and the first apostles used the gifts like a bell, calling men to their message and confirming that God was truly the One speaking through them. Hebrews 2:3-4 says, How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? The Lord bore witness to the accuracy of their message through miracles and gifts of the …Read Article
